AN INVITATION TO ALL VOYAGEIRS AND DAMES
On
February 19, 2009 at 11 am we will have a formal dedication for
a Carville Memorial Monument at the Carville Cemetery at the
Gillis W. Long Center in Carville LA. This is a monument that
is in honor of all the patients that passed away in the
Carville Hospital between 1895 and 1922. This project has been
planned for 1 1/2 years and is being funded by donations from
very generous Voyageurs and Dames. The monument bares all the
deceased names and year of death of the patients because there
are no markers at the cemetery. It also has the emblem of the
Forty and Eight and the La Femmes showing that we donated this
monument. This project has a monetary price of $10,000.00 being
paid by us and a true value to the families of these patients
that does not have a price tag that we can even
imagine.
You, as
the proud sponsors of this project are invited to this
dedication as honored guest. The guest list will also include
the dignitaries from the NHDP, the city of Carville, the
Carville Museum staff, patients and residents at Carville and
the Governor of Louisiana. We have planned this to coincide
with out annual visit to Carville during the Cajun Wreck in
hope that it will be convenient to everyone. On behalf of the
Carville Star program and Voiture Nationale, I hope each of you
will take advantage of this occasion and join us for this
wonderful event.
Please
contact the Nationale Carville Star Directeur George Willis and
let him know if you plan to attend so transportation can be
