 GRAND CHEF de GARE DU NORTH CAROLINA

Hello to all Voyageurs                                                                       August  15, 2010

  As Grand Chef de Gare Passe J.P. Kelley stated he went out with a bang.  Well on that same note I came in with a bang.  We all had a great time at the Grand Promenade.  Too bad that you all couldn’t have been there. 

    Well this year one of my goals are that each Locale bring in at least two (2) new voyageurs and that by the end of the year that will give us about 875 voyageurs.  There is no reason that each locale can’t do that.

    Nationale will be coming up in less than a month and I hope we have a good showing there.  For those of you that don’t get to go, watch for next months newsletter. 

    If you have any ideas on what we can do to make the Grand du North Carolina grow, let me know.  At the fall division promenades, I will be hold a meeting with the division chef de trains and the membership directeur to make a game plan for this year.  Directeurs get your program pins and get in contact with each Locale to see how many pins they want.

   Let’s get the membership in and have a great year.

I wanted to send my thanks to you, Grande Chef de Gare JP Kelley and all the Voyageurs and Dames of

the Grande du North Carolina for allowing me the honor of being your guest at the Grande

Promenade in Hickory, NC. The hospitality and accommodations were simply outstanding. It was

really nice to visit with old friends and meet and make new ones. You really made this transplanted

Tar Heel feel very welcome.

I would lihe to send a special thanks to Voyageur Bill Cain for the delicious seafood dinner he

treated me to on Friday night, and to the Grande Chefs Passe for inviting me to their breakfast on

Saturday morning. I especially want to thank the young lady that did your hospitality room. She

did an amazing job with wonderful food. My only complaint was the few pounds that I gained from

her treats. Richard, I want to thank you personally for all the help and conversation that you shared with

with me, it was much appreciated.

I have visited many Grandes, but I must say that the Grande du North Carolina is the first one that

has every put on that good of a lightning show. I don't know who in your Grande has the connection

with The Almighty, but he is to be commended for arranging that display.

Once again I send to all of you my gratitude for being a part of your Grande Promenade and I hope to

visit again very soon. Please pass my thank on to every Voyageur and Dame in North Carolina, and

I send them a hearty Tip of my Chapeau and wish you nothing short of future success.

June has arrived, by now Flags for 1st Graders have been presented. Memorial Day has been observed in Honor of Great Americans who, through their sacrifice, have secured our freedoms. Nursing Scholarships have been awarded, and the final plans for the Grande in Hickory are in the works.

The year is almost done, but now comes the real work. Locale program Directerus, have you filled out and mailed in your report on Voiture activities this year? We all know that you have done the programs; now all that is left to be done is the paperwork. Please send them in so the Grande Directeurs can file their reports with Nationle. Remember, Locale Voiture reports get sent to Grande Directeurs.

In advance of the Grande, a big thank you to all our Voyageurs in the Grande du North Carolina for all of your continued support of the 40&8, and the dedicated programs that are so vital to our communities.

May God bless you all; I hope to see you at the, Big Blowout, Grande in Hickoyr July 15th – 17th, 2010.

All Locale Correspondants should send Nationale and Grande Corrspondant, a copy of their newly Elected Officers for 2010. This information is needed for our records and for contact information.

At this time, no one has filed a letter with the Grande Corespondant, for the office of Grande Chef-de-Gare. If anyone is planning to run for the office of Grande Chef-de-Gare, I must have a letter no later than July 2, 2010.

Nationale is not sending out a Petite Communique this year. You will need to go the Nationale Web site and down load the forms, or contact National  and they will send you a copy of the forms for a fee of $8.00.

We are short 20 members from being a 100%. Membership is not over until August 1st, 2010. Division III is over 100% in membership.
