Greetings to all:

Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is David Van Wormer and I have the honor and responsibility of serving as Region 6 Sous Membership Directeur for 2012. 

I want to welcome each of you to the 2012 Membership Team.  The very future of La Societe is in our hands and WE WILL NOT FAIL this year.  Membership the is the life blood of the Forty and Eight and each of us are the heart beat of that life blood.  Region 6 is a TEAM and we will function as a TEAM with our strength being only as strong as our weakest link.  THERE ARE NO WEAK LINKS IN REGION 6. 

You will receive communications via email, snail mail and/or phone calls so that your Grande Chef de Gare’s will win that 105% silver ring.  But without our help that will not happen.  So we need to run this race and win in early. 

The goals that are set for us are as follows:  50% by October 15th 2011; 75% by January 15th 2012; 100% by March 15th 2012 and 105% by July 31st 2012.

The goal of 50% by 15 October is not far off, however, Region 6 is at 27.09% now.  Which means we need 22.91% in the next 3 weeks.  Break that down we need to have turned in at least 7.64% each week.  This can be done.  I know it is a short time but we have some great voyageurs out there that will make it happen.

Grande du Virginia is sitting at 44.98% with needing only 5.02%.

Grande du North Carolina is at 27.85% needing only 22.15%

Grande du Illinois is at 23.23%, needing only 26.77%

Grande du South Carolina is at 20.64% needing only 29.36%

Grande du France is at 9.18%, needing only 40.82%

As you see overall we are not that bad and can reach this goal.

We need to work on the non renewals and get them back into the Locales and get them active.  That does not mean don’t recruit new members, by all means get them too then give them something to do so they don’t get bored and stop going to the promenades.

If we keep our eye on the target, it will never move and we will be able to hit that bulls eye with ease.

Lets have a GREAT year and good luck to all.  Who knows all of you may be wearing that 105% ring next year.  Wouldn’t that be great.

Well, we had the Grand last month in Goldsboro, NC. Grand Chef de Gare Passe Dave
Van Wormer and his folks from V-1528 put on a great show, thank you for all of your hard work.

This is my first letter as the Grand Chef de Gare and I want to say that it is truly an honor to hold this office. I can remember being at a fall wreck several years back and seeing the then Grand Chef working the 2nd degree, it was then I realized how much of a brotherhood the 40/8 really is and I wondered how I could contribute to it to make even better. I came to realize that it takes the hard work and dedication of a lot of people to make it happen.

Membership is a very important part of any organization but if we don’t have programs in place to give the locales a goal to work for, we won’t keep our current members. Last year I was the Grand Nurses Training Directeur and I only received 5 reports. During the Grand, it was very apparent to me that our other programs fared no better and I feel that this is a reflection of us. I don’t like this reflection and I truly believe that you don’t either. What is needed is a rededication of those who belong to our organization. How did you feel when you were notified that a comrade or comrades thought enough of you to nominate you into our organization? For me, it was a tremendous honor and still is to this day. If you are truly a Voyager, you should be honored to belong as well and want to improve our organization by participating in locale and grand events. All it takes is a little
bit of your time to make a big difference in the 40/8!!

I look forward to a great year and I want to meet as many of you as I can, but please
remember 2 things… I still work a full time job and I live in Hendersonville. It may be difficult to get out to the east side of the state for any locale promenades but I will be at your Division Promenades.

We are stated a new year 2012. I have received some of the Locale Officers Rooster.
I need this information ASAP.

All Correspondant “NEED” to make sure that they send their new rooster to Voiture Nationale.
I have not received information from the following Voiture Locale:

The Grande Rooster is complete except for the Locale Chef-de-Gares. I will only send out the Grande Rooster (1) one time. The reason is the cost of mailing, the ones that received e-mail will Need to download it or print a copy. I will have copies at the Division Promenade.
The Grande Chef-de-Trains need to start making planes for their fall promenade, please do not hold them around the holidays.

40 & 8 News:
I made couple of error in the first News Paper, these will be corrected in the next Newspaper.
Please support the ones that are advertising.
Twelve (12) papers were return to me. I only had to pay for eight at a cost $2.67 per copy.
I have mail address and the  e-mail's for  all Locale Correspondant the names of the ones that were return to me. I need to know if their addresses are corrector, so I can make correction with the Publisher.

The next 40&8 News Paper information need to be sent to me no later than October 27, 2011.
I would like to thank the ones that supply me with articles for the last News Papers.
Once again I am asking for more articles for ours up coming News Paper.

Hello to all Voyageurs                                                                       August  15, 2010

  As Grand Chef de Gare Passe J.P. Kelley stated he went out with a bang.  Well on that same note I came in with a bang.  We all had a great time at the Grand Promenade.  Too bad that you all couldn’t have been there. 

    Well this year one of my goals are that each Locale bring in at least two (2) new voyageurs and that by the end of the year that will give us about 875 voyageurs.  There is no reason that each locale can’t do that.

    Nationale will be coming up in less than a month and I hope we have a good showing there.  For those of you that don’t get to go, watch for next months newsletter. 

    If you have any ideas on what we can do to make the Grand du North Carolina grow, let me know.  At the fall division promenades, I will be hold a meeting with the division chef de trains and the membership directeur to make a game plan for this year.  Directeurs get your program pins and get in contact with each Locale to see how many pins they want.

   Let’s get the membership in and have a great year.

June has arrived, by now Flags for 1st Graders have been presented. Memorial Day has been observed in Honor of Great Americans who, through their sacrifice, have secured our freedoms. Nursing Scholarships have been awarded, and the final plans for the Grande in Hickory are in the works.

The year is almost done, but now comes the real work. Locale program Directerus, have you filled out and mailed in your report on Voiture activities this year? We all know that you have done the programs; now all that is left to be done is the paperwork. Please send them in so the Grande Directeurs can file their reports with Nationle. Remember, Locale Voiture reports get sent to Grande Directeurs.

In advance of the Grande, a big thank you to all our Voyageurs in the Grande du North Carolina for all of your continued support of the 40&8, and the dedicated programs that are so vital to our communities.
